CROSS CATHOLIC

Delivering food, shelter and hope to the poorest of the poor

Catholic charity delivers aid around the globe to save lives and empower communities

Cross Catholic Outreach’s mission is to help “the poorest of the poor.” The organization reaches those suffering extreme poverty in countries throughout the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Projects include relief for earthquake, flood and tsunami victims, care and education for orphans and other vulnerable children, housing for the homeless, medicines and health care for the indigent, food for families suffering extreme malnutrition, and clean water for communities that have none, as well as micro-enterprise programs and other long-term development efforts to break the cycle of poverty. Cross Catholic provides aid by locating needy Catholic-based ministries serving the poor and distributing material aid through their existing programs

Water to quench the thirsty

A recent project in the Dominican Republic funded the construction of six water systems in the rural Dominican provinces of Azua, San Juan and Elias Pina. The water systems serve 800 households in 15 communities, enabling 3,000 people to receive clean fresh water to their homes. Prior to the water project, mothers and children in the rural communities spent a majority of their time walking miles over mountainous terrain and digging in dried up creek beds to find water.

Housing aid in the Dominican Republic

For this campaign, Cross Catholic funded housing in 10 communities in a number of rural provinces in the Dominican Republic. Cross worked with church partners FUNDASEP and FUNDACION CIENTO POR UNO on the housing project.
